The big day (Christmas I mean!) is looming and will be here and gone in a flash - again!!!
Ive had lots of messages about what to drink on the day!
Sparkling is the tradition and the first thing everyone thinks about is champagne!
Champagne is ok - expensive - but ok!
Ive 2 bottles of Verve and Moët in my fridge - but not for the 25th!
All about the taste and there is a huge array of immense bottles flopping around that makes a much better pairing and easier on the pocket!!!
La Battaglia Lambrusco is a great slurp and easy on the pocket and the ideal Italian rizzy (fizzy red)!
Hard to source though - which is a shame as sparkling reds are huge favs in this house!!!
Then onto Moldova and the mighty Dor!!!
Mega mega mega drink and worth any penny they charge for its importing.
We’ve had this a few times on the big day - goes down well (too bloody well and given it’s one of my fav bottles - keep the stock back!!!).
Then moving onto Prosecco and highlight some fantastic prices from high street stockists - Tesco and co actually tick the box here!
Never figured it out why they all sell so much yet rotate and tweak so little!
The one saving grace is the Prosecco on the shelf. - not had a bad bottle ever!!! Prices ranging from £6 to £60 - the differences in tastes and ability to pair with the turkey spread means that any will suffice!
So, into my bottle for the day.
Ive travelled extensively across France and love the country very much.
The people, culture, climate and overall attitude just ticks the box!
Then when you discover a gem or 2 (or 40 plus😋😋😋🍷🍷🍷👌👌👌) then time to source and slurp back in HQ!
Cremante - the sparkling cracker made outside of champagne but ticks the boxes!
My celebratory food pairing for the big day!
Simple and tasty
